Spider Skabs are unique among the Skab People because they do not actively hunt down their victims. Instead, they prefer to use their sticky webs to lay traps and let their targets come to them. Moving in quiet stealth, Spider Skabs are capable of waiting in one spot for long periods of time as they await someone to get caught in their trap before moving in for the kill.
Like the Ant Skabs, Spider Skabs do not get along with Wasp Skabs and the two breeds are constantly getting into skirmishes. Unfortunately unlike Ant Skabs, however, Spider Skabs have lower levels of defense and are thus at a disadvantage against their winged enemies. Their most effective defense is in their camouflaged bodies, which allow them to blend into nearly any natural environment.
Spider Skabs are also unlike other breeds in that they tend to be more social than other Skab People. Choosing to live together in large nests, Spider Skabs work together to defend their territory and all contribute to the greater good for their tribes.
Humanoids who come across Spider Skab eggs should be wary. While some females of the breed die after laying their eggs, there are others who stay alive and are deadly protective of their offspring. It’s impossible to tell the difference between the types of eggs that are laid with the naked eye, however, so if a humanoid comes across a nest it’s best to just turn the other direction.
Spider Skabs can live in any natural environment and have been known to survive the wet forests as well as the dry deserts.
