Even as a young child, it was obvious to everyone around him that Senvoo-Chay was gifted. An astute learner, by the time he reached his 30’s he stood out among his peers with his understanding of the universe and his desire to always learn more about the Maarose.
Excelling at everything he did, the elders around him believed that he would grow up to not just become a spiritual guide but also the leader of his tribe, the highest honor that can be bestowed onto a member of the Venjoon society.
During his final vision test, after ingesting the most potent concoction, Senvoo-Chay experienced a particularly strong vision where he was approached by the spirit of his deceased mother. She confirmed to him that he would indeed be the next chief of his tribe but first, he must embark on and complete an important quest.
After returning to a woken state, Senvoo-Chay set out on a journey. Traveling deep into the forests, he cut himself off from the world and became a hermit living in a cave. Constantly meditating, he believed that he would know when it was the right time to set forth on his destined quest.
Role: Spell Caster/ Spiritual Guide
Height: 6’10
Weight: 210 lbs
Race: Venjoon
The skin tones of the Venjoon can vary from different shades of greens and grays. The members of this race are all hairless, tall, and are born with natural skin patterns that resemble tattoos. Their legs are incredibly powerful as well.
By nature, the Venjoon are peaceful forest dwellers. They consider plants and animals sacred parts of nature and live in perfect harmony with the living creatures around them, sharing a spiritual connection with all.
If you were to describe Senvoo-Chay in one word, it would be ‘enigmatic’. No one knows how old he is, how many years he spent as a hermit, or really any other major details about his life. You can try to ask him if you want but he’ll likely pretend like he didn’t hear the question.
Stoic and humble, Senvoo-Chay has few (if any) negative emotions clouding his mind. He doesn’t understand vanity, jealousy, vengeance, or materialistic cravings as he spent many years living without those things and was quite content.
Very wise and learned, Senvoo-Chay is an endless fountain of knowledge and constantly has the answer to a question at the tips of his fingers. Naturally quiet, Senvoo-Chay prefers to spend his time deep in thought which means that when he does choose to speak, his words carry more weight as he only uses his words when he is sharing some of his knowledge.
From the time they are born to the time that they pass on from this world and are buried in the Earth, the life of a Venjoon is filled with one pursuit; finding the ultimate level of spiritual enlightenment. For the entire span of their lives (which can last upwards to 300 years), this is their ultimate quest and thus they tend to keep to themselves, not worrying about any of the dealings of other cultures or races.
At the root of their beliefs, the Venjoon believe in being heavily connected to the Maarose, the spiritual realm that surrounds all matter in the universe. They believe that the Maarose is connected to all matter in the universe and is in everything while also being everywhere. The Maarose is more than just a spiritual realm, however, it is also the place where all Venjoon believe they will head after their lives end on Earth and, upon arrival, where they will truly start their lives.
The Venjoon live in various small tribes with their natural skin markings indicating which tribe they belong to. Every tribe sees the universe slightly differently and thus practice their religion in many different ways. Every tribe has their own beliefs on how best to attune to nature and the Maarose in order to reach spiritual enlightenment.
The pursuit of spiritual enlightenment is not an easy one. Members of this race will spend years in heavy meditation under the guidance of spiritual leaders from a very young age. Over the years, Venjoon will train their bodies and minds to reach advanced levels of spiritual consciousness. They can only reach higher, more advanced disciplines of meditation with the approval of their spiritual guides. The goal of every Venjoon is to someday become spiritual guides themselves as their beliefs state that you must be a complete spiritual guide in order to navigate the Maarose after death.
At the age of 50, after the Venjoon student has studied long enough, they undergo a special rite involving the ingestion of a mushroom and herb concoction that puts them into a heavy hallucinogenic state. The student must then navigate himself back to a waking state without losing his mind in the process. Sadly, some students never find their way out of the hallucinogenic state. Those who do manage to successfully navigate the drug-induced state will be granted permission to start a new chapter in their learning. At the end of each stage, the student will be put into stronger and stronger hallucinogenic states with more powerful and more dangerous concoctions.
Unlike other cultures found around the world, the Venjoon have little need for fighting techniques as they prefer to live more peaceful lifestyles. Very rarely are there any quarrels between Venjoon tribes but when a fight does break out, the Venjoon are more than capable of taking care of themselves.
The Venjoon practice a martial art style called Kalaparta. By studying this particular style of combat, the Venjoon are able to integrate their spiritual teachings into the practice and training of this martial skill.
They are capable of fighting barehanded but they also train with a variety of different weapons including their favored choice, a Bo staff.
While he’s not normally the fighting type, when forced into a battle Senvoo-Chay is a powerful force to go up against. Already a master of Kalaparta, Senvoo-Chay rarely needs to use it as he also an extremely powerful Shamanic spellcaster.
As a Shaman, Senvoo-Chay is able to enter and leave the Maarose at will. Upon entering the spiritual plane, Senvoo-Chay exists as a spirit form which makes his powers rise practically to the point of godhood with the ability to do almost anything including fly, travel through matter, and attack the souls of his enemies. Unfortunately, the downside to this is that while in this spiritual form, his physical body is left prone to attacks.
In addition to the powers that he gains from traveling to the Maarose, he also has the ability to create powerful totems that can produce magical effects as well as the ability to shapeshift into any animal that he is wearing the fur and face of.
A master of both martial arts and magic, Senvoo-Chay has little need for actual weapons. He does choose to carry a sacred Venjoon dream catching staff which allows him to enter the Maarose quicker and a skinning knife.
Senvoo-Chay is in possession of a Spirit Wisp, which makes him a Shaman Spell Caster.
